At Cathedral School for Boys, we believe we must continue to define what it means to educate and raise boys. We devote each day to the spirited dialogue, dynamic lessons, and intentional character-building that guide each young boy to engage in the way that best fits him, while he simultaneously develops empathy and respect for the world around him.

    Ahoy, mateys! Our CSB Sea Hawks Outdoor Leadership and Sailing Club launched their third season this past weekend, and the guys could not have been more excited. Everyone found their sea legs in no time, and the weather cooperated … for the most part. The guys will have a couple more weekend sails in April before they get to test their skills with the brigantine Matthew Turner in May. #CSBSeaHawks #outdooreducation #leadershipdevelopment @stfyc

    Bravissimo to our Hawk Combo Band for their stellar performance at Saturday’s Santa Cruz Jazz Festival — their first performance in a contest ever! The Band received Division 2 scores from all three judges (Division 1 = Superior; Division 2 = Excellent; Division 3 = Good; Division 4 = Fair / Poor), and two of our players received special commendations from the judges for Outstanding Musicianship!     Our seventh graders convened their much-anticipated Invention Convention today, dazzling attendees with inventions the world had no idea it needed. Tired of buying separate bottles of ketchup, mustard, mayonnaise, and barbecue sauce? The Quadsauce’s got you covered. Can’t find that perfect night light to read by? The Mini Light to the rescue. Hot one minute and cold the next, and you’re not even sick? The Hot and Cold Blanket’s just the thing. Putting their creative juices to work, the boys learned all about the design process, honed their research skills, and put their hands to work by manufacturing laser-cut and 3D-printed parts.
