High School Counseling

The high school placement program at Cathedral is intentional, student-centered, and designed to help all of our students find and matriculate to their best-fit school. Our size allows us to know our students well and offer personalized guidance for each boy and his family beginning in the spring Grade 7 and continuing with a dedicated weekly class period and frequent contact between the high school counselor and families. Through the high school counseling process, students employ the skills they’ve developed during their time at Cathedral to deepen their understanding of themselves, practice their interviewing and essay-writing skills, and use their time-management skills to take the lead in conducting the search.
 
Importantly, too, our placement results are outstanding. Over the course of the last number of years, we have placed boys into the most well-regarded high schools in the Bay Area and throughout the country. Typically, well over 90% of our students are placed into their first- or second-choice school. Last year, for instance, 98% of our students were selected into their first- or second-choice high school.
Cathedral graduates are known for their academic preparation, expressive ability, and strong sense of character and citizenship. High schools from across the country are eager to attract Cathedral students. Below you will find a list of day schools and boarding schools to which our 2020–2024 alumni have matriculated.

Cathedral School for Boys

Located in San Francisco, California, Cathedral School for Boys is an independent elementary school for boys in Kindergarten – Grade 8.
